Why You Should Start A YouTube Channel

Young woman shoots a video for YouTube
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsappShare on Google Share on LinkedinEmail

I remember when my friend asked me for makeup advice. Something simple, like types of waterproof mascaras. I told her to check YouTube and she looked at me like I had gone mad. That was almost 7 years ago; she had zero clue that YouTube was used like a search engine. Now, YouTube is even exponentially bigger than was it was back then. And people are using that platform like no man’s business. I would know because I have a YouTube channel myself.

You can find all kinds of videos, from cooking to how to make a DIY mouse trap to how to turn on your computer. You can also find people who have made it their home of some sort. Building their whole personalities and lives and literally growing up via their own little show on YouTube, called a YouTube channel.

This is just to show that there’s a space for you on this platform and you don’t have to shy away from it. If you’ve really been thinking about starting a channel, and you have something you genuinely would like to share, go ahead and do it!

Reasons?

You will build a lasting community that trusts and loves you.

You’ll be able to share your knowledge with like-minded people and people that also want your level of expertise. Even if you’re just going to be blogging about college or being a new mom, you will still find your audience. There is always someone that will be able to relate to your story.

Plus, let’s not forget money o. *coughs.* It is also a source of passive income. If you’re diligent, you do your research and you put out quality content, you will get results in terms of views and subscribers and eventually, money via adsense.

However, going into it for the money alone however, will lead to a sure creative burnout and you’ll end up stopping before you can even get ahead. Focus instead on creating valuable content for your viewers. The great thing about youtube is that even old videos can still be viewed and will make you more money every single day if done right.

There’s More

You may get to work with big brands and collaborate with other influencers.

Once again, this doesn’t happen overnight; you will need to put in work in order to see results. But when you do, it will be very rewarding to have a brand you love contact you to work with you. Remember to always be honest with your opinions. You owe your audience honesty at the least.

And that’s it. It’s not too late to start. Remember, y don’t need fancy equipment; you can just start with your phone.

There are young girls buying birth control pills prescribed to them by skin care “experts” to cure hormonal acne. It is true that there are certain birth control pills help with acne but please, it is only a gynecologist that can prescribe birth control for you. When I started on birth control two years ago because of heavy periods and PMS, the doctor conducted a number of tests on me." Lizzy Temisan Link in bio..

The pressure to be, show up and perform. No matter how big or small your following is. I loved all of it. But at a point, it got exhausting. You put out more and more, and you feel less and less creative, and then you burn out. Sometimes we don’t realize it, but we need a social media break." @ellapinkette Link in bio.

It exists across all relationships & even our friends and colleagues can provide a form of informal mentorship. It doesn’t have to be strict or formal, but you need to have a way to draw from the people who have gone ahead of you in the areas you aspire towards.
