Why Do We Fall For Shopping Scams?

Woman after falling for a shopping scam

Have you ever bought something that you knew deep down wouldn’t work but you still went ahead to buy it?

So, I have dry and cracked heels; you know how ugly it looks especially when you are wearing sandals or slippers. I started treating my feet last year. I got pumice stone and tea tree oil and a coconut foot cream. According to what I read online, all I had to do was ensure I scrub my feet with the stone and apply the oil and cream. Dear readers, I did this for only one week and my feet immediately improved.

Now, you’d think I would continue with the routine since it worked, but no. I began to think it was too much work plus I don’t have time to be scrubbing feet in bathroom every day. I didn’t have time too to put my legs up after applying the oil and cream for my feet to take it in. I have other important things to do. Because of this, I went looking for an instant, miraculous cure. I spent money I didn’t have to buy a “gel socks” that is supposed to moisturize my feet and heal it overnight. Even now that I am writing this, I feel stupid.

Looking for instant cures is why we fall victims to scams. We are too impatient. We don’t want to follow the process; we want is to snap our finger and expect results. That is why we buy those teas that promise to cut belly fat in two days. That is why we buy face creams that promise us glowing wrinkle-free skin overnight. That is why we think if we jog and eat healthy foods for one week, we will lose weight. It is why people fall for MMM-like scams. We want to double our money over night!

A lot of the changes we desire in our lives require time. If you want your hair to grow then you need to care for it week after week, the same with losing weight, or fighting acne. With our finances you have to plan, save and invest. Scammers are everywhere, they prey on our impatience, they know that we want things to happen quick, quick. We have to learn to do the work and then be patient for the work to yield fruit.
