Spending Money Responsibly During Christmas

Happy woman holding Christmas shopping bags

Years ago, when we were children what was our business with giving out Christmas gifts? We just sat back and received gifts like Christmas clothes and shoes, new wristwatches, sunglasses, etc. We watched our parents give out gift baskets and hampers to their friends. It was none of our business o. Now, it’s our turn to buy gifts. *cries in debit alert.

The first thing I have learned about gifting over Christmas is to set a budget early. Don’t go and do pass yourself. January is coming! Set that firm budget and buy gifts within it. Don’t try to impress people and go broke o. It’s not worth it.

To stick to your budget, you have to make a list of people you want to buy gifts for. Some people send their parents and older relatives’ money, some buy rice and chicken, ground oil, etc. You can still do those things but in smaller quantities. Country hard. Anybody that receives a gift will be grateful. Stick to your list.

Next, you may want to start buying gifts early. We all know how some traders hike up prices during the Christmas season for no reason! But if you cannot buy earlier, try to compare prices. Don’t just walk into one shop, agree with their price and go. Always look for some ways to save some coins.

Christmas “movements.” This one is almost like the second point about making a list. There are a lot of comedy shows, music concerts, beach parties, etc. during Christmas. Most of these events, require you to buy tickets or gate fees. So, decide which show you want to attend on time and stick to it. It’s not everything you are invited for that you should jump to. Unless you are rich sha!

Finally, Christmas is a good holiday to spend time with friends and family. Spending quality time with your loved ones means that you are at home, and if you are at home you will not get a debit alert! It doesn’t make sense to work hard through the year, saving, only for you to squander your hard-earned money in December. Enjoy Christmas in moderation!
