You Might Be The Next Big Media Influencer

Young Black Media Influencer

Since the lockdown, everyone has taken on one challenge or the other on social media. Everyone is hosting a live event. Everyone is creating content. We have all suddenly become influencers o. Lol. You know na, from the Tik Tok to Triller videos. The people who have not caught the social media buzz are probably monks.

So while all these are happening, it also helps to think about money. You are not here to spend all that data for nothing. Personally, I have also been trying out ways to supplement my income because this is the best time to work from home and what better way to do that, than on social media. I basically spend all my time there anyway. *don’t judge me*

Anyway, if you have recently caught the social media content creating buzz, and like me, you are looking for a way to monetize, here are a few options I am exploring.

Target Potential Mentors

Obsessively browsing the feeds of brands who inspire my creative process inspires me, but it also exposes me to opportunities in the field. I got my first freelancing gig on social media just by access to a mentor’s opportunity announcement.

Networking

It helps to speak up now. Talk to those around you who are in the work you do or the area you’re focusing on and would be willing to help. A strong network  makes it easier for you to grow, get new jobs and solve problems as someone in your circle might already have the solution.

Work on ideas

Develop the ideas in your mind and take online courses to help make that needed boost and make those working ideas a reality. Udemy offers 50% off on some of their courses and some select few are also free (over 100+ courses) the link is available as a pinned tweet on their Twitter handle.

Information is key

Try to hop on informative threads not just on the ones that’s entertaining. Though this is a no judgement zone and times are trying, but while laughing at all the funny threads also look out for the ones that are sure to put something in your pocket.

I try to count my blessings no matter how bad things get and talk to loved ones when things get hard, as the situation can look so dreary sometimes. But I’m also a firm believer of hope and silver linings. Above all, have fun online. Let your hair down. Make new friends and give us all the content we crave!
