Who Else Wants A Clubhouse Invite?

Social media has a new kid on the block! Or rather, a new app on the block. You may wonder: ‘Ehen, how is this one different from the countless launches we’ve witnessed in the past?’  Look, I agree with you, even I struggle to keep track some times. But let me tell you, as a digital marketer, I make it my business to know the latest trends and tricks, even if I don’t think some of these platforms fit my brand.

So now, about that new kid, you’ve probably heard the  buzzword on people’s lips. That’s right, ‘Clubhouse’. It is the latest digital phenomenon and people can’t seem to get enough of it. Clubhouse is pretty much an audio based social media app. You can join different rooms with moderators and speakers and on the flip side you can host your own rooms/conversations as well. A recent new feature is the ability to link it with your Twitter or Instagram account.

It’s a highly interactive platform although some have complained about the exclusivity of it. Basically, you have to invited by someone already on the app to gain access to the app. It’s still in beta mode(testing phase) though so it will most likely open up but for now those are the rules. It’s also an iPhone iOS 13 only app. Sorry Android users.

So far I’ve heard all sorts from users on the app. Nigerians are being dragged for having every other accent but a Naija one when they speak. Lol! I have heard a variety of room names that go from ‘Worship Room’ to ‘Moaning Room’(don’t ask me what this is) but apparently it’s great for networking  and the degrees of separation seem less on there as you can find yourself in ‘rooms’ with high profile celebrities. As with any other social media app, it’s up to you to determine how you use it and how to get the best out of it for yourself.

I do wonder if it will become a viable threat to the likes of Zoom. I hear Instagram has recently launched their Clubhouse nemesis, a new feature on the app called Rooms, lol. I laugh in ‘Mark Zuckerberg.’ Time will tell whether Clubhouse is another ‘fling’ or long term relationship.:)

If you’re on Clubhouse, how has the experience been so far?
