Turning Your Bedroom Into A Private Haven

Minimalist bedroom decor

I may be a writer and blogger by day but I’m definitely a pinterest connoisseur by night and I spend hours and hours pining bedroom photos, studio spaces and bed frames on my Pinterest boards.

It may be due to the fact that I shared a bedroom with my siblings for the longest time. By the time I was in emerging adulthood, I was definitely fed up with that arrangement and literally dreamt of fixing up and organising my very own personal space.

If I could arrange my bedroom 20 times a month, I really would. I love the concept of making your personal living space into a sanctuary, so much that I really have considered taking this path and doing this for a living.

But hey! Small steps. Let me start by sharing with you, some very good industry tips to manage your very own personal bedroom space. Your very own haven.

Use multipurpose furniture

Think of purpose as well as aesthetics when purchasing or custom making furniture. A really nice bed frame will be even nicer if it has storage underneath. That way, you have extra space for your belongings and it does not feel like you have a ton of furniture in one space.

Avoid clutter

My motto in life is, “everything has its place.” And life is generally simpler and much more enjoyable if we stick to getting only what we need and keeping the clutter away. Clean, vertical space really draws the eye. But a cluttered space contributes to lack of control and even more clutter and build up.

This will also make your space fell bigger and more inviting.

Use mirrors

You would be surprised at what mirrors can do to a bedroom. They can enlarge even the smallest spaces. They help to bounce light off them and into the room. Making it look brighter and more airy and generally more welcoming. You’ll love coming home to a very lit room.

Puts pops of green!

Plants are essential in every space. Whether industrial or boho, night or moody. It just gives a lift to every space.

Add some character

No matter how many pins you have on Pinterest, always remember to make a space feel like yours. Add your personal touch to it.

It could be a gallery wall of all your favorite memories, your moms old knitted blanket that has a ton of colors and maybe a wine stain. Whatever it is to add that personal touch.

You don’t want your house looking plain and drab just because you’re trying to copy glossy magazines.

In everything, make your space feel like home. It’s your sanctuary. It’s where you start and end your day. And so it should give you the best possible feeling.
