Simple Tips for Healthy Skin

In the end, nothing beats a healthy skin, especially on days when you don’t want to cover it up in anyway.

While we love the makeup “slayage” from a well-beaten face, it’s still important to keep a healthy skin. In the end, nothing beats a healthy skin, especially on days when you don’t want to cover it up in anyway.

Here are a few tips for keeping your skin healthy:

Eat clean

Not everyone has to be “fitfam” or skinny. But everyone can benefit from a clean diet. Great skin is often a sign of great health (or just great genes, really. Lol.), and great health is highly dependent on proper nutrition. A balanced diet free of, or low in junk, heavily processed foods, and toxic additives/preservatives, will keep your skin healthy and smooth.

Stay hydrated

Drink water! Lots and lots of it. Long before you need a lot of makeup to conceal flaws, your skin tells you the story of what’s happening on the inside. You need to stay hydrated to flush out toxins from your organs, and the skin is the largest of all organs. Adequate hydration keeps your skin soft and supple.

Use quality products

Hear us out. We don’t mean you should go out and spend all your money on makeup. But buying a few quality beauty products is better than accumulating a lot of low-quality stuff with toxic chemicals that can cause unpleasant reactions. They don’t even have to be very expensive, if you do a bit of research. You can find affordable and good quality products online or in stores.

Clean your brushes

Depending on how frequently you use them, you should wash your brushes with warm water and a mild soap every few weeks. Makeup brushes tend to harbour germs from our faces and surroundings. Using dirty brushes can cause acne and other reactions.

Don’t share!

One must also avoid sharing of beauty products too as it may cause bacterial infections. You must especially avoid sharing products that go directly on your skin such as concealer sticks, brushes, puffs, and other applicators. Try not to also use other people’s products as you might react badly to stuff that works for them.

Take breaks

Try not to get so dependent on a full face of makeup that you need it every day. Your skin needs to breathe from time to time. Go out with a bare face once in a while. Some days, all you really need is a brow pencil, mascara and lip-gloss. Save “face-beaten-to-stupor” makeup for special occasions, and keep it simple for daily use.

Wash your face

This well-known tip is the last because it’s literally the last thing you should do before going to bed. Ideally, you should wipe, wash, cleanse, tone and moisturise before going to bed. So at the very least, you should wash off all the dirt and makeup of the day. This will give your skin a chance to breathe and recover from the day’s abuse.
