Pandemic Diary: What I Have Been Up To Staying At Home

Young woman spending time at home during the pandemic

I have been home since March 10 and I have experienced almost every stage of boredom in the social distance situation! To make things worse, I have also fallen ill and couldn’t even go to the hospital because I have absolutely no idea if I will end up with something else I don’t want.

Between the anxiety of being stuck at home and health challenges, I feel like I’m losing my mind from staying home.

When compared to our essential workers who have been working non-stop since this pandemic started, my home problems do not even scratch the surface. Of course, I still acknowledge that my feelings are valid, like many others in the same situation. So I’ve decided to share the few things I’ve given my time to in order to retain my sanity.

Baked a Cake

I’m not someone who enjoys being in the kitchen. However, this period, I have started spending more time in there. Cooking different meals and also baking. Despite the fact that the first cake I baked ended up baking me. I still kept at it till it made sense! Also branching out into making snacks, scotch eggs and more *wink*

Start a TikTok

Yes, I started a Tik Tok in my 30s and I am not even ashamed of it. The kind of joy I have gotten from this app has been so fulfilling. Proceeds to do the “I’m a Savage” dance routine.

Read some books

I have read through a few books throughout this period. Some I planned to read last year and the year before! Don’t judge me. What matters is that I’m up to speed now.

Gone live on Instagram

If you can’t beat them, join them. It’s not a bad idea to be fair. Who knows, this might be the beginning of an amazing side hustle

Watched all the shows and movies on Netflix, HBO and Hulu

Obvious exaggeration but seriously, been there, done that. I’ve crawled through Bollywood, Korean movies, Nollywood and Hollywood. Of course I finished my social distancing snacks but it was worth it!

Finally, all the talk on getting a new skill before the end of this pandemic is just yarns! Do not pressure yourself. Take one day at a time. Heal from the stress of traffic, stress from before the pandemic and most importantly, have fun and be happy!
