P-Square’s Reunion May Be Proof That Water Is Indeed Thicker Than Blood

P-Square Reconciliation

If you were born any time before the year 2000, and your year of birth is not a compound sentence, then you must have been familiar with the phrase “we bring it back again.” Fam! It was the good old days of P-square! See ehn, those guys were a huge part of my childhood, and so when I heard they split up, it was almost impossible to imagine a world without Busy Bodies!!

I have learned how friendships and partnerships work overtime. Business can cause strife and partners can fall out of flow and chemistry with each other. But brothers? Twins? I thought they would be joined for life, you know, Ifunaya kind of things! Lol, okay, I’m being cheesy, can’t resist. Still, even if they decided to pursue separate interests or careers. So, when the twins public quarrels and family matters made their way to Instagram and the blogs, I was shocked to learn they didn’t even speak to each other anymore. But I guess your new family is your new family, anyway.

But see, the last thing I’m here to do is to dig up old wounds, or judge family business that isn’t really my business. If there’s one thing that I’ve learned about this thing called adulting, it is that it is more exhausting to be at loggerheads than to be at peace.  On the other hand, relationships, even with family can become so toxic that it is the best thing for you and your mental health to cut things off. Of course, as Nigerians and a part of a very collectivist culture, there is one last aspect to consider, and that is, we sadly make a lot of decisions based on what people think or what society and brutal social media will say. The internet is not kind and people forget that all humans have feelings regardless of fame, so we fall into this trap of doing things based on what people will say.

My own take is that as people, we need to constantly examine the energies of the people in our lives, then try to work things out and work together. If the energies are healthy, misunderstandings can be worked through, if not, maybe being apart is the best thing for both parties. Even in that context, being apart doesn’t have to mean forever. People realign their lives, re-examine their goals and, the people CHANGE. So, make sure you are making decisions and living for yourself and not the society.

Anyway, now that PSQUARE are back together, and as an official internet user and stakeholder in the Celebrity Lives Committee, I want all the tea on what finally brought them back together. Unfortunately, I am not getting that tea, and this is not even a gossip blog sef. So, I will focus on being happy that they are back, wishing that this reunion is for real, and hoping for new music.  Apparently, the water of the womb is thicker than the blood of the covenant (this is the actual saying) and hopefully, afrobeats and the world will be better off for it once the duo gets back to doing what they love most.
