Nine things I hope To Do Once This COVID Saga Ends

Young lady dreaming of life after corona virus

As with many other people this period, I have had a lot of time to think about the course of my life, my plans and goals. But not just the big ones. The little things that shape my journey.

Unlike many others, shockingly, I don’t miss the outside. People posting throwback pictures saying “this was 2 months ago when I could go out”. Lol. That’s not me. I have barely worn any makeup this year. Pre and post corona.

So this list isn’t really about “getting back on the horse”. It is more about bothering to even pass by the tracks to see the horse races. I want to have more experiences and moments under my belt. And I want to live! I want to have experiences that I have been too scared to have. I want to stop procrastinating. Here is my tiny list of simple things that will help me live in a fuller way.

Get a tattoo:

I have always wanted one…or two, or ten. I am sooo getting it. Sorry mom.

Live alone:

Haha. Does this sound counterproductive? For me, it’s not. For someone who is such an introvert, I have always shared a bedroom. Well, I will make sure to live on my own soon. To discover my self. What I like, how I like to decorate if I like to walk around my apartment naked. Etc. I feel like this will help me know myself better.

Travel alone:

This may sound scary but I can’t wait to plan a solo trip. Fingers crossed, I am completely and totally safe. And I hope to befriend some locals. Nairobi, Bali and Cancun are top of my list for this.

Travel, period!:

A lot has been keeping me from travelling. Funds, time, responsibilities. But it will happen. It will. I’ll take more local as well as international trips. Long vacations, short staycations, solo trips, girls trips, group trips etc.

Dye my hair:

Again, sorry mom! Haha! It’s something I’ve been meaning to do but keep putting off because I hear so much damage comes with dyeing your hair. But it’s just hair. It’ll grow. Life is too short. I’ll just do it!

Dine out:

Time to dust off those heels that have been buried under my wardrobe. I’m going to go on more fancy outings and not overthink anything. Looking forward to getting drunk. Lol.

Go to the movies alone:

The cinema is one place I love love love going to. Maybe because it’s dark and I don’t have to practice a lot of “socializing and networking.” It is right up my introverted alley. I’ll take it up a notch and go on my own from time to time.

Experiment with food:

No more sticking to what I’m used to. I’m going to try it all. I can’t wait to go to the market, and learn new recipes and whip up something different every single week.

Plan and attend more family outings:

My siblings and I are scattered in many places during this period. So we are used to not being together. But in the light of this epidemic, I have learnt that I do miss them. I hope we are able to plan more trips together.

My list may seem simple and basic. It sure doesn’t involve any sky diving or bunker jumping. But it’s perfect for me. To be able to do the little things that sum up to a big and fulfilling life experience. What are your post-covid-19 plans, everyone? Let’s see them in the comments.
