The Best Morning Routine To Set You Up For Success

Most of us have heard this phrase, “if you can win the morning, you can win the day.” It’s evident in a lot of successful, focus driven individuals that rituals and routines are key to a disciplined and productive life. Business leaders, thought movers, professional athletes have all mastered this.

These people seem to do so much in one day. And then you wonder how they are able to cram so much into the same 24 hours that has been allocated to every one. The secret, like I’ve found out, is the morning. This week, I write out a few ways I am getting ready for my billionaire life by shaking up my morning routine. Hopefully you find them helpful.

Wake up early

I wake up by 5am because my body has gotten so used to it. This also gives me a minimum of 5-6 hours of sleep if I go to bed at 11pm. If you aren’t used to this or you’re not a “morning person”, some tips would be to set multiple alarms around the time you want to wake up and put your phone away from your bed so that you have to get out of bed to reach it and put off the alarm.

Make your bed

A lot of us wake up in the morning and pick up our phones, then we stay on it for minutes or even hours. Before, whenever I didn’t have class, I would pick up my phone at 5am and be on it till 8am. That’s 3 hours out of 24 lost. 12.5 percent of my day gone.

If you wake up and get up to make your bed, it sets a momentum for your day. And you want to do another task after that. And another. And when you’re done for the day, you know you are coming back to evidence of your first task of the day. And to a well made bed.

Drink water, work out and meditate

Drinking a full glass of water first thing really gets your system running. You’re replacing overnight dehydration and getting your gut ready for the day. It also prevents you from feeling too hungry too quickly and going to snack on something.

Working out even for a few minutes at the beginning of the day is essential. It could be as little as 10 minutes of yoga or a full gym routine. Physical exercise is paramount.

Meditation or prayer, whichever one you do, is also important. It prepares your mind for the day. I personally use my yoga time to “meditate” and think about how I want my day to go. And then I go on to actually pray.

Take a shower even if you won’t be leaving the house

A shower fully wakes you up. A cold shower helps reduce inflammation and gets you pumped. After showering, it’s best to get dressed in actual clothes and not pyjamas. And to sit at a table and not sit on the couch or on your bed.

Journal

Some of the most amazing game changers and thinkers of our time and in history have journals. Write down your thoughts, plans, aspirations. They will guide you and also remind you of how far you have come. Even if you don’t realize it.

Go through your to do list and start the day

Most of us have to-do-lists. This is the time to go through them. Add to it and figure out which ones you can smash for the day. Then you’re ready to start your day.

These steps set you up for a productive day. I personally go ahead to then eat breakfast while checking my emails. And then go ahead with my tasks.

Hope you try this and hope it all works out for you. Don’t forget to share your morning routine in the comment section.
