Where are all the self-starting, boss ladies in the building? This one is for you. You see, running a small business can be a mix of many things. A combination of highs and lows, joys and grievances. There will be moments where you just want to throw it all away and moments where you’re living the dream, making the journey unpredictable but interesting.

As a boss lady running your own business, you will know by now that often times, the job involves wearing many caps. That is, playing many roles. Think about it, at the start-up stage, unless you have an investor pouring money into the business, hiring staff or the number of staff you need is but a dream till the business starts making some sort of money. Based on this, you could go from the CEO in the morning to accountant in the afternoon, and then, to graphics designer in the evening.

But the good news is you don’t have to do everything alone. Thankfully, the digital world has produced Apps that can help you with some elements of running a business. I share some of them below:

Canva or Over

Canva and Over are great apps for designing flyers, presentations, social media posts, blog posts, posters and much more. They also come with a range of design templates for almost every industry/profession you can think of. You also have the option of designing from scratch if you wish. So, if you don’t think you’re very creative, the templates are a great guide on what a good design would look like. It also provides access to over a million photographs, graphics, and fonts. Also, the tools can be used for both web and print media design and graphics.

Wave

Wave is a great app for tracking your income and expenses, creating and sending professional invoices and receipts as well, right from your phone. You can also set up recurring billing for repeat customers, with manual or automatic options. All your invoicing and payment information automatically syncs with the free accounting software in your Wave account, so your bookkeeping is taken care of. It can also calculate your cash flow, profit and loss and many other things.

Asana

Asana is great for managing small team projects. It helps teams manage projects and tasks in one tool and they can organise and track their work. Teams can create projects, assign work to teammates, specify deadlines, and communicate about tasks directly in Asana. It also includes reporting tools, file attachments, calendars, and much more. It is a web and mobile application.

Evernote

Evernote is good for general productivity. It has a paid and free version. With the free version, you can clip bits and pieces of information from the web, tag them for easy searching, and alter any of them by condensing it, adding to it, or embedding pictures, tables, audio, video, etc. You can also use Evernote for taking down notes, or recording audio while taking down notes and journaling, to-do lists, contacts, and even storage for tweets or emails that you want to keep handy.

Finally, remember that embracing technology and the right combination of apps, you can save yourself both time and money.
