Love is blind Netflix series review

If you haven’t heard about this show, then you definitely live under a rock. If you have heard about it and haven’t watched, as much as I want you to keep reading, there are spoilers ahead. So you should go ahead and bookmark this article. and come back to it later.

Love is blind is a dating show on the streaming platform—Netflix. And I know what you must be thinking. Me. Watch a dating reality tv show. Who would have thought? I would have preferred to count a whole pan of beans before doing that. But for some reason, and with the buzz around this thing, I decided to check what all the fuss was about.

See. I was hooked. I fell for it.

The show is about a bunch of single people looking to find love. But the way they do it, they talk to potential partners while sitting in a pod and speaking through an opaque wall. Lol. It’s like Facebook of 2009 meets MTN midnight data. Lool. Not creepy at all!

You develop an emotional connection with someone and within 10 days, you decide whether or not to propose marriage. What type of futuristic end of the world crap is that?! I love it. Haha.

I can guess what you are thinking. If it’s so cringe-worthy, what’s the appeal? I’ll tell you.

You get to fall in love without technicalities

These days, we judge each other by our Instagram feed and number of followers before you even get to know a person. This show just reminds us to step back from looking at the physical and ask the questions that really matter. Get to know a person based off of what they have inside and not outside. Sometimes, we have a “type” and then we don’t pay attention to anyone that does not fit into what we have in mind. But it’s all about the heart and that’s what keeps the longest and strongest relationships going.

Also, you get to see that a lot of “aesthetically pleasing” humans aren’t actually all that great when you get to know their true characters.

You deserve all the love in the world

You have probably heard or even said something along the lines of “he’s not a loving type. It’s just the way he is.” And so you find yourself with someone that constantly gives excuses about the way he treats you. Find someone that loves the whole of you and isn’t afraid or ashamed to show it. Have you seen the way Cameron looks at Lauren? The way they are saturated with each other? It’s the thing of every girl’s dreams! Touch does not have to be your love language. But whatever it is, make sure you have enough of it.

Love shouldn’t be half-baked, or one-sided. Don’t sell yourself short, girl!

You should always be your authentic self

Some of the pod squad members thought they were in a telenovela. *cough Giannina *cough. If you are concentrating on creating drama, the theatrics and the works, you may not find what you are looking for. Or you may lose what you already have. Be true and authentic. Don’t lie or act what you are not.

Also, it’s best not to gaslight or unnecessarily trigger your partner. There are ways to go about quarrels and arguments without bringing out the absolute worst in others. That’s the problem most people had with Damian.

Jessica was also someone who I feel was not straight forward with her feelings and intentions and always seemed to be falling into the worst situations.

You should always be the best version of yourself with or without a partner

Good people make good relationships. Before looking for someone to “complete you”, make sure you feel whole by yourself. You should strive always to be a better version to yourself than you were yesterday. That way, you even attract like energies. And when you find someone who has also been working on themselves for so long, you match. And you both work towards building a healthy relationship.

Lauren always talked about how she has been independent and content for a long time and even if she was looking for a husband, she was happy with her own self.

I’m actually happy I watched the show. Aside from Stan omg Lauren and Cameron so hard, (lol), I’ve learned a few things and I hope you do too.
