Four Skills Guaranteed To Make You More Money

Young woman learning on her laptop

The year is 2021 and I don’t yet have the $100million and a house in each of my favourite cities like I thought I would. At my big age. Lol.

I know we all envisioned some things when we were younger but adulting came and smacked us right in the rear. What it taught us however is that improving upon whatever skills you have or acquiring new skills is what sets you ahead in whatever industry you put yourself. It is also what will get you closer to your dream net worth.

A lot of skills that people tend to recommend are tech or tech related and I am a bit biased because it is my field, and I know that it is what the world is definitely leaning towards in recent years. However, there are a lot more skills in other fields I will mention too!

Digital or Internet Marketing

Not to be dramatic or anything but this skill has changed my life thus far. I have been blogging and using social media for a very long time, and then finding out that I can help brands build their presence and make sales conversions digitally without even a high school degree, it was amazing.

Every business in 2021 knows that it should have an online presence and learning this as a skill or taking courses in it gives you such a great leverage.

With this skill, I was able to make more money as a University student than a lot of graduates.

It is so diverse that you can apply for jobs from all over the world. You can find largely remote jobs which is a blessing during a global pandemic.

Free courses like the Google Africa digital marketing courses were very useful to me.

Coding and Digital Literacy

Many people recommend learning how to do some level of coding, but to be honest, not everyone should and would learn to code. Everyone should however be very digitally literate. We are already at a time where every single job you want to get will need you to have a level of computer proficiency.

Management

A non tech skill that is very high in demand? Yay! Whatever field you want to build a career in, you sure hope to grow. And management and administrative skills will be amazing to facilitate growth. Management skills are a mix of everything from communication, emotional intelligence, team building, collaboration and a ton of others.

Writing

I always say that if you speak then you should write. If you communicate then you should write. Writing is not just for novelists or people that publish articles (hey me, lol). Writing is a skill that everyone definitely needs. If you have ever read a brief, an email, a text message or even a tweet with bad grammar and punctuation then you would know how important it is. As a professional or even a business person, you would write cover letters, proposals or even just a text message to your boss.

Ultimately, I am always looking to improve myself, stay on top of my game with my skills and continue learning. Everything is so competitive these days and putting your best foot forward is really the way to get ahead.
