Flashback To When I Almost Got Caught!

Young lady making plans with another man

I don’t mean caught-caught, because technically, I didn’t do anything besides make almost make plans with two different men. #Sigh. Hear me out! Sometimes, men are scum, other times, we just prepare for the scummiest behaviour. Yeah I know, lessons learned.

For the sake of this post, let’s call the first boyfriend Timi and the second, Peter. Timi and I had been together for 4 years and the relationship was getting some type of way. I think it was just “see finish” really. Long story short, we drifted apart a bit but still stayed together officially. He drifted first and while I got no attention from him, Peter and I started talking a lot more.

Peter lived in Dubai and he was such an amazing person! Dark, tall and handsome! We got closer during summer and it happened to be when I was about to take my annual leave from work. Timi and I had been talking about going to Dubai for months. So, I bought my ticket to Dubai for a week and also convinced myself it wasn’t because of Peter but because of monuments, culture and all the fancy stuff Dubai has for me.

My conscience entered the matter and I asked Timi for the 5th time if he had bought his ticket but he said he had an important business deal to close on and he’ll meet up with me by day 4 of the holiday. This was, however, after he had tried to convince me to travel somewhere else which was a little too late because I already paid for my ticket.

Day 1 in Dubai was fun! Peter knew I was in town and we agreed not to see because we could tell the tension was building up a little too much and to be honest. I loved Timi.  I visited everywhere and anywhere between the first 2 days and had 1 more place of interest to visit for day 3- the Taj Mahal- before Timi comes to join me.

Friends, it was Day 3. Day 3 o. In the dimly lit lift and on my way to the top of the tallest building in Dubai, there was a couple who kept giggling and doing a little too much for a crowded lift. I kept counting the floors with plans to run out of the lift till I heard a familiar voice whispering, “you know you like it when I touch you here.” My heart skipped a beat as the lift opened up and rays of light got into the lift. I turned around and my eyes locked with the familiar voice.

It was Timi. #Sigh. Just glad I never followed through with meeting Peter on Day 3.
