Dear Dreamer, The Next Best Time Is Now

Do It Now

How many times today have you said to yourself, “I’ll do this later.” Yes, consider this a sub. Today, I have decided we all need a little dragging. Thing is, we always put off both big and small things, hoping to do them later. Well, guess what? Often times later becomes never.

Most times, the tasks we put off till later never get done. And even when they get done, they are done in such a hurry that they produce subpar results.

Now I’m not just talking about putting off doing laundry. I’m talking actual life dreams and goals. No matter how big, small or wild they are.

Whoever said procrastination is the thief of time, actually deserves a cold beer with a plate of steaming ube and óka. Because time is our actual life currency and something we can’t ever get back. So if we still keep feeling inadequate, it will get you nowhere.

Let me give you a personal example.

I started a YouTube channel with my phone camera, put up a few videos and gained 100 subscribers really quickly.

And then I ghosted. I went AWOL for 2 years. 2 years! That was not the plan. It was supposed to be a few weeks off because I wanted a tripod for my phone. Then another few weeks because I wanted a camera. Then another month because I felt I needed a tripod for my new camera. Then I needed a new lens because I told my self that the one that came with it was not good enough.

You get where I am going with this, right? Brethren, that is how Youtube sent me a reminder that it had been two years since my last video. In those 2 years, people have put out tons of videos with great information. They have put themselves out there. They have built brands and become authorities in their niches.

That could have been me if I did not question every step I wanted to take towards starting and continuing this process.

A lot of us have felt like starting a course, a program, some school work, a business. And then at the end of the day, the time flies by and we realise we have done nothing with it.

I once saw a tweet about this girl. At 26, she really wanted to try medical school again. But, she felt she would be too old when she gets out. She complained to her mom, “I’ll be 30 in four years. I’ll be 30 when I’m done with med school.” Her mom replied, “whether you go to med school or not, you would still be 30 in four years. But if you go, you could be a 30-year-old medical doctor.” I know there are different variations of that response from her mother, so hopefully, you get the entire gist.

Well she was tweeting as a doctor because she decided to take the jump.

The best time for you to take on a project would be the first time you thought thoroughly about it. But hey! The next best time is now. Start something and go through with it.
