Create Christmas Magic With These DIY Tricks

Christmas DIY Decor

I may be the last person to put up my Christmas tree;  it’s not because I don’t like Christmas trees, I love them, especially the white ones.  I just haven’t had the time. There’s also the fact I’ve been thinking about doing things a bit differently this year, and my cute little plans will require extra time. So basically, I was thinking more in line of DIY decorations – something a little more hands on to make the tradition more meaningful and create some bonding time with my partner.

Imagine putting cute Christmas stickers around the house then cutting them up and signing messages on each one? Seems like a thoughtful alternative or complement to add to a traditional Christmas tree if you already have one. The DIY culture is slowly gaining the rave in Naija and things are no different this holiday. If you are looking for more ideas, here are a few below:

Recycle household items

You can take an artifact from your kitchen, an old grater or serving spoon and tie a ribbon around it and hang it. It is fun, practical and you can always use it after the celebration. You can also use items that have fond memories for you and your partner. It could also be some of the children’s toys, this gives them a sense of receiving the gift afresh.

Create a fancy Christmas board

You don’t actually have to make the board, just buy one and place a red surface on it, then you can have everyone pin a momentum, or card with a special message to someone in the family. I imagine this will typically work better in a large family. The more crowded the board is, the more full of happy thoughts your home would be.

Make your own Christmas ornaments

The highlight of Christmas decor, for me anyway, is definitely the Christmas tree. And you don’t have to spend a lot on Christmas ornaments. You can make really beautiful DIY Christmas tree ornaments with some glitter paper, glue, scissors and some string.

I know it takes time but it’s about the bonding process too. Plus, you may just discover the designer or arts and crafts specialist within you. Lol. On a serious note, 2020 is one year that has taught me resourcefulness and I’ve learnt a lot of new things during quarantine. This could be an opportunity to do the same.
