I once ended a relationship before it even started because the guy had bad breath. To this day, he doesn’t know the real reason I ran away. In my defense, I was young and allowed to be a little silly. Even though, let’s be honest: who wants to date someone with a bad breathe? Lol.
Little things like this can determine the course of a relationship. While I agree that we shouldn’t be shallow, we have to also admit that some things matter to some people more than others.
So let’s look at a few funny but necessary reasons a relationship may come to an end.
Bad Breath
Some people think it doesn’t have to be a deal breaker since it can be fixed. Others, like the 18 year old me, simply can’t deal with the idea of being in a relationship with someone with bad breath.
Body Odour
Like bad breath, some folks think it’s surmountable and are willing to help their love interest handle it. Others don’t hang around long enough in the relationship to discuss it. Well, to each her own.
Talking Too Much Or Too Little
While some folks run away from quiet people, some others regard being loquacious as a moral failing they don’t even want to touch. Talk about different strokes…
‘Weird’ Laughter
One of the quirky little things I love about my partner is his rare but cute laugh. On the other hand, someone I know once said she quickly got over a crush because of the way the guy laughed. Lol.
Body Piercings
Male or female, some people don’t mind body piercings in their potential partners. Many others are put off by them, sometimes inexplicably too. A few people actively look for partners with piercings. Like they say, one man’s food is another man’s poison.
Eating Habits
I can’t stand it when people slurp their tea or hit their teeth with their cutlery. Lol. Some people end relationships because of how their partners chew or smack their lips.
Pet Preferences
While some people won’t date people who like animals, some others won’t date people who DON’T like animals. A good number of people will call off a relationship over the kind of pets they do or do not like (cat lovers vs dog lovers!). Lol.
Tattoos
Like piercings, some even find tattoos attractive. Some others won’t even look twice at people with tattoos. Ah well, to each his own.
I imagine there’s really an inexhaustible list of quirky deal breakers for a lot of people. Whatever your funny little dislikes are, everyone has that one thing they just can’t stand, and it’s okay. Just do you and be ready for life’s sense of humour.
