Beach Parties Will Always Be The Rave!

Group of friends hanging out at the beach

When I first moved to Lagos, there was a certain beach I used to enjoy hanging out at, until it became extremely rowdy and a haven for those who enjoyed the ‘wilder’ side of life. I’m not saying that everyone should leave the beach before I enjoy it, but I do appreciate the serenity. The slow gentle breeze, the feel of the sand against my leg and just the wide, open space to think and clear your head.

But if you live in Lagos, then you know that you are probably not the only person who enjoys the beach. Lool. Beaches are an affordable, guaranteed form of relaxation after all. I recently attended a group beach party and it reminded me how it is really simple things that create beautiful memories.

So, if you have a thing coming up and want to spend with a few trusted people, don’t rule out the beach just yet. Especially now that the rains have not come in full force. The best thing is, they are pretty easy to pull together. The scene is already in place and you don’t need to worry so much about decorations.

Below are a few things to put down on your list for your beach day planning.

An Actual Beach (Lol)

Goes without saying that you have to find an actual beach. One that is intimate enough to give your guests an exclusive and safe experience. Also, find one that allows you to hire a private spot for however long you need it for. Don’t forget your chairs and tables. It should be an option in the deal.

Delegate an MC

Yes, people will most likely end up entertaining themselves because we’re all adults right? But you may still need someone to hype people up and get them into the mood and organise the games, which brings me to my next point.

Games Games

Have a list of possible games for the day. Musical chairs are always a hit. Yes, roll your eyes but you cannot deny it. It always amazes me how competitive grown men and women are when it comes to musical chairs. Highly entertaining, I tell you.

Refreshments

Encourage everyone to bring an item of food or drink with them. Even if you’re providing a portion of this, it will save you carrying the bulk of the cost of feeding everyone.

Music

And finally and the most important actually, after food and drink, MUSIC. If you can’t afford a DJ, make sure someone comes with speakers and a great playlist. Your beach party will be made. 😉
