Are You Down For Some Mocktails? Here Are A Few Recipes

Happy lady with a cup of mocktail
I recently dabbled into making Mocktails in my spare time because edibles are always my happy place and cool refreshing drinks make the top of that list. When out in restaurants, it is one drink that I order; who doesn’t want a frothy drink with colourful umbrellas and bendy straws?
Fresh pulpy orange, frozen pineapple chunks and the lovely fruit component of the drinks are few attractions that drew me in. Although some of these drinks in the restaurant were amazing hits, others were sometimes too bland and not up to the usual standards. This spurred me to start looking out for easy and delicious recipes of these drinks and I began to make batches for myself and my family. To my surprise, I even found a simple zobo mocktail as  my go-to recipe. Yum!
Here are a some quick recipes you should explore.

Sunrise Mocktail

The two main components of this drink are the pineapple and the zobo leaves (Roselle plant flowers.) The simple drink is made by boiling zobo leaves with half a cup of water, sugar, ginger and cloves (Kanafuru) till it has a thick consistency. Blend the pineapple with ice cubes. Then strain both zobo and pineapple mixtures and keep aside separately. Next, pour in a glass cup, add the pineapple juice first, followed by the zobo mixture and voila, a man-made sunrise. Some people prefer to use orange juice but I have a preference for pineapple as it contains proteolytic enzymes which helps aid digestion.

Pina Colada

Its exotic name and equally rich consistency makes it a fave. The mocktail can either be alcoholic or non alcoholic and its ingredients are, coconut milk, brown sugar, ice cubes, pineapple chunks and pineapple juice. All the ingredients are blended together with the chunks of pineapple and ice cubes going in first. For the alcoholic variety, simply add some rum to the mix of ingredients.

Screwdriver

This is probably the simplest of all listed as it is made using just four ingredients; Orange Juice, Vodka and Ice cubes. The glass is first filled up with ice cubes, orange juice is then poured in it, three quarters of the glass length, then you add your vodka. If you prefer Mocktails with a zing in it, then this should be our choice.
These are just a few of many and all the options comes with it’s own unique taste and flavour. It’s really quite simple.  Blend away and chill out at home with your own home made mocktail. Cheers!!
