We all know those songs that talk about how love cannot thrive without money. While this is mostly true( those bills need to get paid people), there are still ways to make your heart sing opera notes on a modest budget. After all, what’s the point of spending all your money on romance if you can’t afford to pay school fees afterwards. Below are a few ideas to affordable romantic dates.
Vacations can be expensive. Even driving a couple of hours out of town costs money. So how about a Saturday where you both lock yourselves in the apartment and do absolutely nothing than eat, cuddle and laugh? This will not only save money but provide you both with so much needed rest and relaxation after a hectic work-week.
Eat at White House/Ghana High/Chick-Fil-A
You may want the excitement of eating out with your significant other. Try eating at a Buka ((for those in Nigeria) or your favourite fast-food restaurant. If there is one thing I miss about Nigeria, it is White House pounded yam. A date at the Buka with your significant other, drinks included would cost you less than N2,000. And the entertainment (people watching) is always free.
Take a Walk/Run together
For fit-fam couples or even those looking for a modest way to get some exercise, stretch your legs and walk the neighbourhood. I and my husband love long hikes in our city’s greenways. It is a great time to gist and reconnect while enjoying the wonder of nature and getting to meet our neighbours.
Pack a picnic for the beach/park
Pack some food and head to the beach or a nearby park where you can eat and watch the sun go down in the arms of the one you love.
The couple that volunteers together stays together. Maybe there is a passion you both share. You can volunteer at an arts festival, at church, at an orphanage. Giving back is selfless and people are always better for it.
