I’ve never really seen two women fight over a man. The case in question being when that man is married to one of them and the other is a side chick. Recently, there was a thread going around on Twitter about an ugly confrontation that happened in Shoprite. Anyway, I have ears for gist enough to know that as a woman, confronting your husband’s side chick rarely ends well. Think of wigs pulled off, drinks poured in people’s faces, cursing and yelling, wrappers being re-tied as women get ready to fight. Okay, maybe I’ve watched too much Nollywood and I’m now being a tad dramatic. But seriously, it does get ugly.

Below, I share a few reasons why I personally don’t think this is a good idea.
The side chick didn’t make vows to you
The side chick is not really your problem, your husband is and he is the one you should be confronting. He took the vows with you. He will love, honour and cherish you et al. Confront him. You will most likely not get the answers you seek from your side chick. Not all encounters are dramatic, some women genuinely want to know what their husband sees in the other woman or what she does or gives him that she(the wife) doesn’t give him. Again, you should seek these answers from your husband.
She may not know about you
It’s not your place to tell her that her beau is married to you. That is your husband’s job. You may succeed in chasing away the side-chick but that isn’t your job to do and if you haven’t dealt with the root cause, more side-chicks will keep coming. How many will you chase away? I don’t condone cheating. Communicate with your spouse. Seek counselling. Find a way to commit. Respect the vows you made. Because why go through the hassle of making them(believe me, the journey to marriage i.e. weddings, can be a hassle) in the first place? Yes, people make mistakes but if it becomes an unrepentant lifestyle, then that’s another story.
Finally…
Cheating causes mistrust, bitterness, depression and can be a huge blow to one’s self-esteem. So dear wife, if this is you, no, you don’t deserve this, stay confident, keep your head up and have a conversation with your husband.
